Two people have been killed in a house fire at a property in Garforth, Leeds.
Rescuers found one person dead at the scene in Farfield Court, while a man was taken to hospital with serious burns.
The man later died of his injuries, police said.
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Fountain, of West Yorkshire Police's Protective Services Department, said: "We are working closely with the fire service to establish the cause of this incident, which has left two people dead.
"Enquiries are still at a very early stage."
Police and firefighters remain at the scene as an investigation into the cause of the fire continues.
Local MP Alec Shelbrooke said on Twitter: "Terrible scenes from house fire in Garforth tonight. Prayers with the family.
"We're a strong community & will now come together to support."
The blaze comes after three children and two adults died in a another house fire in Sheffield this week.
A nine-week-old baby was among the dead in the fire, which broke out in the early hours of Monday.
