Geena Davis will be donning some scrubs as she takes a guest role in Grey's Anatomy.
The Oscar-winning actress has been tipped to play a surgeon on the upcoming 11th series of the US medical drama, reported Variety.
While details about her character and storylines have been kept under wraps, her role is said to be a "major guest arc."
The new series of Grey's Anatomy, which will premiere on US screens in September, will focus on Ellen Pompeo's character, Doctor Meredith Grey.
The show's creator Shonda Rimes told TV Line: "It is really a Meredith-centric season. She's lost her 'person,' her [half-]sister has shown up, her husband is chafing to go someplace else..."
Geena, who starred in Thelma And Louise, Beetlejuice and A League Of Their Own, has been away from both the big and small screen recently.
The 58-year-old actress appeared in US drama Commander In Chief and voiced Mrs Eleanor Little in the three Stuart Little films. She also starred in Lake Bell's indie comedy In A World... and appeared in Ridley Scott's mini-series Coma in 2012.
